farewell.

Yeah technically it's the third week of January and I should have said farewell to 2008 long ago, but I have been busy okay? And I'm not one to pass up list-making...

1.) What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Rent a cabin on a lake for a week. Celebrate our first wedding anniversary. See Death Cab for Cutie live. As well as Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, among various others.

2.) Did you keep your new year's resolutions and will you make more for the next year?
I did not make any, so they were easy to keep. The only resolutions of sort for the new year were these.....

3.) Did anyone close to you give birth?
Some very exciting births this year-- one of my oldest and dearest friends Jennifer gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Brody, in July. And the second among my amazing group of college girlfriends, Brianna, gave birth to their beautiful baby girl, Quinn.

4.) Did anyone close to you die?
Sadly I don't think I can go a year without losing anyone anymore. We said goodbye to my grandma, and last of my living grandparents, this summer.

5.) What countries did you visit?
No countries visited this year- a step down from last year. But we have high hopes for '09!

6.) What would you like to have in '09 that you lacked in '08?
More patience and confidence in myself; among other things...

7.) What dates in '08 will remain etched in your memory and why?
September- celebrating our first wedding anniversary and frolicking the sun-drenched beaches with our friends and our beers in hand in Florida. June- for the amazing amount of concerts that we were able to attend- while also squeezing in Brian's 24th birthday.

8.) What was your biggest personal achievement?

Really getting to know myself. 2008 was the first year of my life that I didn't have any major aspects to fill my time. I was able to remember what is important to me and what I am passionate about because I had the time to remember. I am grateful.

9.) What was your biggest failure?
Letting what other people think & do & say affect me.

10.) Did you suffer illness or injury?
No. Thank goodness.

11.) What was the best thing you bought?
Our new camera.

12.) Who's behavior merited celebration?
Brian. Not only for the many times he's embraced me with a kind, simple & loving gesture. But also for his determination and working endless hours to get us where we want to be. He is amazing. And he is mine. How did I get so lucky??

13.) Who's behavior made you appalled or depressed?
I wouldn't be me if I was really going to call out names; so I won't.

14.) Where did most of your money go?
Beer. Gas. Repeat.

15.) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Previously mentioned DCFC concert. Trip to Florida. Twilight {yes I'm one of those}. Some great musical releases. Lots of engagements & babies. G's first birthday.

16.) What song will always remind you of 2008?

All of DCFC's Narrow Stairs album. Hometown Glory by Adele. Kings of Leon's Only By The Night album. 15 Step by Radiohead. All of Robert Pattinson. Madame Joy by Van Morrison. Supermassive Black Hole by Muse.

17.) Compared to this time last year are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
a) Just as happy.
b) Fatter. {bread? chocolate? beer, anyone?}
c) Maybe a tad richer.

18.) What do you wish you'd done more of?
Written my thoughts down. Played the guitar. Downloading music. Spent time with my sisters.

19.) What do you wish you'd done less of?
Obsessing.

20.) Did you fall in love in 2008?
With many things. Mainly Brian, music, blogs.

One Tree Hill. The Office.

22.) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

23.) What was the best book you read?
Twilight saga. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. 2666 by Roberto Bolano. East of Eden by John Steinbeck {again}.

24.) What were your greatest musical discoveries?
Bon Iver. Adele. The Black Keys. Frightened Rabbit. Vampire Weekend. Fleet Foxes. My Morning Jacket. Joshua Radin. Cat Power. Tom Waits. Laura Marling. Sia...... {I better stop.}

25.) What did you want and get?
A DSLR camera. Lots of books. Wii Fit.

26.) What did you want and not get?
CB2 bookshelf. Lots of Anthro & U.O. goodies. Knee-high riding boots.

Twilight.

28.) What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
Had a lovely family dinner & got all these goodies. And 23.

29.) What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Bringing friends & family together in one place as we did for our wedding in '07.

30.) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Jeans. Converse. T-shirt. Sunglasses.
Some nights the occasional black top & heels.
{some things never change}.

31.) What kept you sane?
Brian. The promise of change. Reading. Photography. Time with friends.
