random thoughts for this lovely, gloomy, rainy friday!

my new favorite blog: here.

i'm loving these velvet pumpkins:

we are going out for sushi tonight
to celebrate my dear kathy's birthday.
yuummmmmmmm.

i am starting a book club
and i am really rather excited about it.
any must have's that you can suggest?

this came out today and i am dying to see it.
but of course it's not here yet. sad.
john krasinski+benjamin gibbard=hell yes!!

i am very excited about our quiet little weekend that we have planned.
getting some things done around the house
and just being with the people that we love,
watching fall roll right in.
can't beat that.

Our book club's favorites:

-Loving Frank, by Nancy Horan (historical fiction based on Frank Lloyd Wright and his lover)

-The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls (the longest we ever talked about a book!)

-1000 White Women: The Journals of May Dodd, by Jim Fergus (another historical fiction book taken from the perspective of a woman sold as a "white bride" to the American Indians...so freaking good)

Have fun!

Ok, that blog? Amazing. Also, Loving Frank is a great book.

I second Loving Frank, although I thought that 1000 White Women was a little light for the concept.

The Way the Crow Flies, while I can't remember much about the above mentioned books, I can still tell you vivid details regarding this one. It's haunting.

Additionally, Sheer Abandon. Although it might be too long for a book club book.

I third Loving Frank, but my all time favorite Book Club book was Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier (published in 1938). Oh, just typing this makes me want to read it again!
